Fall '11 LUST LIST

I suck at blogging, yes, but who reads this anyway?

My birthday is in a MONTH! WOW I'm getting old. I can't believe it. Time flies. So I'm digging up cool stuff and here's a few of my favorite things I just got, am being inspired by and buying... eeeks!

new moccasins from Target (!!!) I love them so much.

Just saw this cardigan in Cosmo.
I have one like it, but it looks so COZY!

Snapped this at Buffalo Exchange in Long Beach.
Earring design? YES

Short lived awesome ring I picked up for $4 on clearance
@ Urban Outfitters but lost :( I suck with jewelry!

UO arrow ring //
I'm obsessed with anything Navajo/Mayan inspired and it warms my
heart to tell you that my boss is working on Aztec designs :)

This pistol is one of our casting parts at work,
I'm totally getting matching necklaces for my girls
(Black Keys 10 cent pistol anyone? ;)

I am also a sucker for novelty pieces. C'mon, how fun are these!
(also @ Urban)

And who can resist a cute stache?? LOVE IT

...and I can't stop listening to Getting Paid by Zech's Marquise. They are ridiculously talented boys (3 younger brothers of Mars Volta's Omar Rodriguez Lopez) and this CD doesn't leave my car. Check them out please :)

The Princess Bride

Woke up this morning to some news... EEEK!! Happy/sad day, haha ;)
Congrats to the happy couple! I've always been a fan of the royal family,
my mom and dad got married and (separated) around the same time
so naturally my mom was a huge fan of Diana's and it's carried over.
He's a bit nerdy but I have always had a big crush on Wills!
(....and of course, I'm interested in the BLING!!)

a royal wedding :)

beautiful mother and her boys... Prince William and his love.

SO adorable and sweet that he gave her his mother's ring. He said it was because they wanted her to be included in the happiness. That tears at the heart. What a style icon and an amazing woman. She is definitely one of my idols. Happy to see her son found a perfect match. Kate seems like she'd be a fun gal pal. One of my bestie's is getting married next summer too and I'm waaaaay more excited about the coincidence than she is, haha. (I know I'm a nerd!)

Happy Halloweeen

I am a sucker for Halloween. Fall is def one of my favorite times of year. I don't usually ever mind the end of summer especially since I am a socal resident. The weather stays beautiful and it means college football, Oktoberfest and my birthday! I love all the scary stuff and the decor. My birthday is in early November and my latin roots fuel my love of the Day of the Dead and all the beautiful art that accompanies the holiday.

I found these charms too late to add them to my etsy store...maybe next year! I did scoop some up for me though:)

Halloween is very special because I come from a really big family and we've always done big holidays. It was always fun times with my cousins when I was younger and now it's an excuse to get dressed up and glammed up and go out with the girls. I've done the West Hollywood Parade and last year got to see the madness of a NYC parade. This year I had a low weekend. Went to grab a couple drinks with my girlfriend last night and tonight I cooked turkey chili and cornbread and handed out candy at my parent's house. Saw some fun costumes but this year I didn't really feel like putting much time/effort into a costume and crazy plans. Maybe next year!

verrrrry easy indian DIY costume...basically just cut up a sheet and shredded the edges & tied them together.
^^^with Carlos from the Hangover :) laughs with Melissa // my Dad & Pedro handing out candy to kiddos

Glad I took this weekend easy.... now it's time to get ready for the month of November.... my best friend is moving back to LA and she'll be here this week. Going away for the weekend with my girlfriends for my bday. Either Vegas or Palm Springs and both will be in the upper 80s. Very excited to hit the pool! There are a lot of November babies in my group of friends so it's going to be a month of celebration. I also have a $450 jetblue credit to use by the end of the month. Where should I go?! I can't decide.

Hope everyone had a good holiday. Have a good work week! Excited, I already have Friday off. yay!

Gem show

WELL! I had a rather amazing weekend. Big family party on Saturday and I got to hang out with all of my fabulous and beautiful cousins. Sunday mom and I went to Long Beach for a gem show. wowowow. It was at the Queen Mary and we only went for an hour because I knew I wasn't prepared to spend a ton of money. Next time, I'll be ready!! ;)

stones and stones and stones and stones....

This is what I came home with:

I made mom a birthday gift with similar pearls but I ran out... I am obsessed with labradorite and this cut caught my eye... I already made some earrings I'm going to put up on my etsy shop in a couple days. And I know exactly what I'm going to do with the turquoise, just gotta go grab some chain this weekend. I am really excited and can't wait to do some more designing! And of course, I'll come back and share with everyone. Have a great week :)

HELP!

The summer concert series has officially begun! I swear, my Tuesday 10 Things will be a full summer low down. I've been so busy at work! But I have 2 days to get a fab outfit for Monday night's Kings of Leon show at the Hollywood Bowl. Melissa and I raced down to San Diego after work last night for the show and it was soooo worth it. They are amazing and the new stuff is great! I can't wait to see them at home with my gals. So ladies, I need your help. A B or C? C seem more appropriate for a rock show, yet A look more comfortable and like I'd give them more use. Get in your vote ASAP!

ps a special shout out and thanks for my girlfriends who purchased pieces off of my etsy shop. slowly i'm building some inventory and i am in love with the idea of my girls wearing my jewelry. i want to make things with you lovelies in mind... and i want you to enjoy the pieces i make. it really is a dream come true. so thank you. you don't know how much it means to me. xoxox

Back on the east side

I was gone for 3 and a half weeks! I got back really early this morning and slept most of the day. Went for sushi dinner and then into the city for an interview. It's for a new company and I'm really excited. It went well so I hope I got it. Anyway, it's Tuesday...so here we go!

1. I went to the 1984 Olympics.

2. I was once on The Hills.

3. I met all of Kings of Leon before I knew who they were.

4. I'm afraid of the ocean.

5. I got paid to see Simon and Garfunkel.

6. ...and Muse... and Red Hot Chili Peppers... and The Police...

7. I've flown alone more times than with someone else.

8. I once babysat for Scott Weiland's children.

9. I went to Catholic School for 4 years.

10. I engineered $4,400 earrings.

Life notes from a plane ride

Life has been a bit all over the place lately and I've had to deal with some intense criticism. I wrote some notes, liner notes I guess about what I am all about. Just wanted to share.

I am someone who believes that you are born with what you need in life. Influence didn't make you. I despise ignorance and hate, yet I've dealt with a lot of drama my entire life for not biting my tongue. I will not. I'm an honest and true person. I am hated for being a selfish and uncaring person yet I am nothing but overwhelmingly friendly to strangers. You don't deserve respect, you earn it. And you get what you give.

I've been cutting ads out of magazines since I was really young. This all clicked with me. I worked with children for a long time maybe because I just couldn't deal with adults and I didn't want to be one. To be honest, I still don't. So its funny I fell into exactly what I want to do. But I do believe that everything happens for a reason, so I'm not surprised.

I want to make things beautiful. I take inspiration from everything. I want to go to Coachella and people watch and photograph and let the desert inspire me. Its magical there. And then almost clear across the country I want to go to Lollapalooza and do the same, in the middle of the metropolitan city amidst the skyline. I dream to design. I stare at the gorgeous girls in both places with their golden skin, in their summer attire and it's better than NYC fashion week. THAT is my fashion week. I could die after that, taking it all in. The hair, the hats, the headbands and headgear, the dresses, the beautiful bodies, the tans, the colors, the SHOES! No wonder when I went to Coachella for so many years and I only paid mind to what I would pack versus who I would see.

I think its all relative. Music, art, the color palate, my musical appetite.... Its all encompassed.

I think to make art one must know art. What a shame to just do what's selling to make you the most money. I'd like to make something classic. Be known for more. Its so exciting to go from step one, two, three, seeing everything in between. Molding myself as much as I molded my own projects out of wax back in school. You have to know texture, color, metals, heating, soldering, casting...its crazy and intense but beautiful and exciting. Something out of nothing. You know nothing until you have something you can call your own, with your conscience clear. Then pride is your own.

I am inspired by life. By the songstress with the rocker. By the beating drums and the ballads and the music and the moments at dusk you will never forget.

I'm ready for this life to start.

de chanel

Just like every girl dreams of Chanel and Paris and fashion... I think every lady has a mini girl crush on Miss Deschanel. Including this lady!

I mean how can you not? She's adorable, quirky, fashionable, smart, and she seems super down to earth like she'd be the best gal-pal you could have and loads of fun to be around. I fell for her in Elf and even forgive her for The Happening. It's alright, I can look beyond that!

WELL! Guess what?!?

I am very very excited and proud to say that Zooey is wearing my work in her new movie! My boss (Dominique Cohen) emailed us all yesterday to say that we need to go see 500 Days of Summer because Zooey is wearing her designs! It's all toward the end of the movie and we only have ideas of what they used but I am really really excited! I don't think I'll catch it this weekend, prob next weekend so I can make it a movie date with my hunny.

So do me a favor, look for a long rose gold chain toward the end which she wears doubled, rose gold post earrings (we've heard she wears them twice) and also our handbags but that's not confirmed. You can take a peek at our site and see what our bags look like. I am really excited! This is 1000x better than that Neiman's ad that never made it to print!

BTW, click over HERE! for a good link to our stuff. It is a little pricey but I can guarantee the work, after all, it is a lot of my craftsmanship. I do most the soldering and set up. As well as general logistics in the designs.

So please check it out and support! I can't wait to see it!! :)

Life is grand!

So on Monday I started a new job!

I always knew I could make ends meet, with or without a college degree. I've done pretty well so far with that belief. Fun jobs, enough money to do a lot of the things I've always wanted to do, random adventures, tons of fun, the best memories... but not much to show for.

When I was in school, I did take a bunch of art classes. I learned to cast, learned to solder, learned basic jewelry trades.

Never did I imagine on those carefree, fun days in class with the girls that I could get PAID to do all of that fun shit... and here I am!

My job is production assistant to this jewelry company. I am going to be trained to do laser soldering, hopefully learning to set diamonds. I've been playing with all of the toys in the studio and it just makes me giddy out of my MIND! :) Finally a job that will go far and really makes me happy. The company is great and there's a lot of room to grow. My first project was $20k necklace dripping in diamonds! Insane... totally. But I love this! It's going to be great...

LOTS of great things ahead, I feel it, I know it, I love it. It always pays off to be positive! SEE! :)

LOVE!
